I came into this property management role with very little direct accounting experience but, over 15 years experience in the finance industry. While working with numbers is my territory, I had never used QuickBooks and was a bit worried about taking on the task of setting up the accounts for our Condo Association. I am really finding the program very user friendly.  My son Josh (18) taught himself the program and is logging the rent receipts and has walked me through the work order system and I am quite proficient now.  He has even figured out how to re-design the reports to include the items that we need.  Thank you for your patience with our questions when we get stuck.

'System' that sums up in a nutshell what Gita Faust's course; manual and training help me create for my system.  Before the course, like most small business owners I found myself doing all the backend book-keeping; accounting; reconciliation; data entry etc.  With her course I was able to standardize the steps of buying a property; steps when new property is rented; when tenant leaves etc.  As my real estate business grew from 5 units to 25 units, I was also able to have my assistant take on most of these tasks; thereby freeing up time to do the more profitable parts of the business like networking with other investors; looking for better deals; negotiating with sellers etc.

I finished entering all my data last night with a couple little touchups this morning.  Once I figured out what I was doing and got comfortable with it, it went pretty smoothly. 

I learned more from you in a little over one hour of consulting time than I learned in the QuickBooks class I took at the college a couple of years ago—much more.  That class was about 10 hours for QuickBooks Fundamentals and 10 hours for QuickBooks Intermediate.  Thanks for writing this book and sharing your knowledge.

After several tries at trying to figure out how to get property management to work with QuickBooks, I surrendered and asked for help. The most useful and by far the quickest way was to contact Gita Faust via her website and purchasing her book on property management. The instructions were easy to follow and complete with all the details needed to get the job done correctly. She uses a simple chart of accounts with the majority of the accounting being charged to the correct property, tenants etc. using "Classes". Call her, she is great! The cost of her book with a sample property management company is a great investment.

Everyone knows how to use QuickBooks but this Manual is the guide to make it easy to manage your rental properties. It takes you through step by step and tells you everything you need to know in simple terms, pictures, and diagrams.

When I started to learn QuickBooks I was a little intimidated because I never used the program and I was new to real estate.  I asked my employer if there is someone who can teach me the program so I can be more efficient at my job performance.  He agreed that I should learn the proper way and suggested a course at a local college.  My employer checked into availabilities and there were not any classes available.  He suggested Gita Faust.

Gita and I started working on QuickBooks and at first I was nervous because it was all foreign to me.  Gita helped me to become more comfortable with the application.  She explained in detail how to enter the information with great efficiency.  Any time that I had a problem I called Gita and she helped me to understand what I was doing wrong and explained how to correct my mistakes.  After a few sessions with Gita I was able to perform the functions taught with great ease.  I still have more to learn but I am confident that Gita will provide me with excellent skills to perform my duties.

Gita's knowledge with regard to the usage of QuickBooks in a property management environment has been instrumental in enabling us to properly set-up our QuickBooks file, our daily processes, and monthly owner reporting. Without her involvement, we would have struggled mightily, and ultimately never fully implemented the system correctly. If you need support or training with the proper usage of QuickBooks in a commercial property management environment, make sure you speak with Gita first.

The Expert Publishers book includes step by step details for configuring QuickBooks, managing association data, and reporting. HOA setups in QuickBooks are not intuitive. When done poorly, the system falls apart quickly.

I picked up a client last fall and used Gita Faust's Guide to Financial and Property Management. She has created reports and set up a QuickBooks shell file that will allow you to track properties/units and tenant information. I have been very happy with it. The cost is around $300 but well worth the money. Gita is great to work with and answer any questions.
